Not necessarily. Some smart locks operate over Bluetooth only, which means they work without Wi-Fi but require you to be within Bluetooth range to unlock via the app. Wi-Fi smart locks let you control the lock remotely from anywhere. Keypad-only locks do not require any internet connection at all. Jorge explains the connectivity options during the consultation so you can choose what works best for your household.
Most smart deadbolts include a traditional keyway as a backup. If your power goes out or the battery dies, you can still unlock the door with a physical key. Jorge sets up and tests the backup key during installation. Some models are keypad-only or fingerprint-only with no key backup, and Jorge will make sure you understand the tradeoffs before you decide.
Most smart lock installations are completed in 45 to 90 minutes on site. That includes removing the old lock, installing the new hardware, configuring the app or keypad, programming access codes, and testing every function. Yes. Most smart locks support temporary guest codes that you can create and delete as needed.
